My Newly Weeded Gardening Spot

I took this photo this morning. My grass is in dire need of reseeding, but that's a task for another day. I'm anxious to plant something in this bed that was nothing but giant Canadian Thistle a few days ago. We are supposed to have rain coming up from the south for 4 straight days and we really need it. See you later - I'm off to an office meeting and then must deal with some real estate paperwork.

Can't tell just how big that raised bed is, but I'm betting you'll be able to raise a big bunch of crunchy, delicious, nutritious salad greens in there if nothing else! Be sure to share with us your plans for the space. Kinda exciting! (Can you tell I'm crazy when it comes to gardening?)

My lawn is looking like that, too. When we moved here I concentrated on the front yard and getting grass planted around my art barn, but the backyard is a mess. Do you have any suggestions for killing goat-heads without hurting the grass? You probably don't given have goat-heads where you live, but I thought I would ask. It is a major problem in our backyard.

Connie....I looked up goat head weeds and YES, I have them. They are especially bad in my gravel driveway. I just keep pulling them out by hand. I looked at your greenhouse shed and it's great.

Mama Pea....Yes, I might try salad greens out there right away since they are shallow rooted and like cool weather. I'll measure the size of my bed soon. I could never manage gardening the way you do or should I call yours farming? I ended up feeding the whole neighborhood when I had a big garden at my first house.

What a great space. I'll be eager to see what you decide to plant. Nice timing, rain will deep soak everything. Our drought has done to our back yard what your photograph shows of the spot of lawn. We had some rain a few weeks ago and everything looked so much better for a little while.

What a great raised bed ... Perfect for tending. Do you want food or flowers?
