I Made Soup Today

I made a big pot of soup today and it was so good. Split pea is one of my favorites but I didn't have any dried split peas so I improvised. First I chopped 1 large onion and one small one and sautéed them in a little olive oil. Then I added a large bag of frozen peas and what was left of some french green beans and added 4 cups of water. Then I peeled and chopped a russet potato and a sweet potato. Then I chopped three ribs of celery and a super large carrot. I added more water until it looked about right. I brought everything to a boil and then simmered the pot for about an hour. Then I buzzed the contents with my immersion blender until it looked like classic split pea soup. I didn't add any bouillon or ham hock or any seasoning at all. When I ate my big bowl for supper tonight I added some Bragg's Liquid Aminos and it was absolutely perfect and delicious. It warmed me inside and out. Webster had a ladle full on his kibble and he was so happy. He loves a good hot meal too. Have a great evening. xo image source

This was a good night for soup. Another thing we have in common, split pea is one of our family favs too. We also like Senate Bean soup.

Is this your photo Rosemary, it's wonderful?

I feel so badly for the folks in upstate NY, they need more than soup. What a mess so early in the season and it's not even winter yet.

Even though I had just returned from a fabulous dinner.....(my favorite white truffles with pasta);

I was salivating over your dinner soup recipe!

Lucky you and lucky doggie!

Penelope

ps mine survived tooth-cleaning with complete anesthesia today!

YAY!! She is 9; and I actually cried when I left her at the Vet!

Do you brush Webster's teeth????

Sounds wonderful! Does it freeze well? I make Butternut Squash soup and also Ham and White Bean soup which both freeze very well.

Love my immersion blender; every kitchen should have one of these gems!

Stay warm,

teaorwine -- Sharon...I never freeze anything. I just keep eating it until it's gone! I'm quite sure this would freeze well though. Yes, those stick blenders are wonderful. xo, Rosemary

Queen Vee -- Victoria....Not my photo. I added the photo source right after I hit the publish button. That Senate Navy Bean soup is another favorite of mine. Agreed about those poor people in Buffalo. I can't even imagine 8 feet of snow, especially this early in the year. xo, Rosemary

Penelope....No, I don't brush Webster's teeth. I wish I had started when he was young.
