Waiting for More Snow

I took this photo two days ago and that little patch of snow that refuses to melt is still there and it's definitely "waiting for more" as my mother used to say. This tangled mess of thorn bushes and wild grape vines looks like a giant bird's nest, doesn't it? The weight of all the snow we had mashed it all down. You can't keep a good wild barberry bush down though. In no time they will spring back to life and provide good cover for small wildlife. This area is rather like Brer Rabbit's briar patch.

Well the white stuff is falling at my house so I'm sure you'll maybe get some too…I'm done, over it, finished. Mum Nature needs to take her meds and get with the program. It's Virginia, bring on the green, the cherry blossoms, blooming bulbs and trees and not this bloomin SNOW!

Here in northern California we're getting some glorious RAIN! Not a gully-washer but moisture nonetheless. Supposedly, more is on the way, and if we're really lucky, it will stay around a while. For as long as I can remember, every Easter egg hunt has been spoiled with rain. I promise not to groan and moan this year. ;-)

I think the mess of thorn bushes is rather lovely, like a giant wreath almost. What does it develop into?
I'm in the U.K. and it's so interesting to read of what stages your spring plants are at. Our snowdrops have finished now, but daffodils are still flowering everywhere. Crocus are mainly over and beautiful muscari are happening now, along with the wondrous hellebore.
How lovely that you have them all to look forward to.
