Time for an Aspirin Facial

Spa Day at the cottage. I decided to give myself an aspirin facial.

I have blogged about this beauty routine before here. First you crush 3 aspirin and then stir in an acid. I used a blob of plain yogurt. You can use milk, buttermilk, soy milk, lemon juice, or just plain water if you wish. I washed my face and dried it. Then I rubbed all of my potion on my face and neck. It feels grainy and good, like a deep scrubbing. I left it on for 30 minutes or more and then jumped in the shower. I got some new shampoo yesterday so I washed my hair too. I hadn't even combed it in the photos above while I was still in my pajamas. I should take an "after" photo but I'm too lazy. I usually use plain, uncoated regular big round aspirin but they are so hard to find. I bought a new bottle yesterday while I was at the grocery store and they have a very light coating that was easy to crush. I used a mortar and pestle but you can use the back side of a spoon. Actually, if you have time they will even dissolve by themselves in your preferred mixing agent. Enjoy your glowing skin if you decide to give yourself one too. I just looked at my old blog post where I used 5 aspirin. Today's recipe using only 3 was fine and I used much less yogurt so I had nothing left over. Have fun.

I'm not sure what your real age is, but judging from those iPhone shots, you look @ 40 (which I suspect isn't your real age :)

Whatever you're doing, my dear, it's working!

You are indeed BRAVE...As others said in your previous post. Thank you for the tip. I am going to try it too.

All I had to mix with the aspirin was a bit of milk and sour cream. It made a nice paste. I'll get you know what the results were. It stings a bit.

You are too kind, Add 31.
I asked my 36 year old real estate customer to guess my age this week and he guessed 51.
I guess I have good genes inherited from my beautiful mother. I don't dye my hair and as you can see from my pajama top, I have a young frame of mind.

Wow- I have never heard of this before. My skin is SO dry that I try desperately to keep it hydrated. My friend gave me a huge old unopened jar of Jergins facial cream and I have been using it and it is the best stuff I have used in years. I am afraid to check but I am pretty sure they don't make it anymore-sigh. You look WONDERFUL! xo Diana

I'll have to try this! And no, you do not look your age. Maybe it's due to being so content in your cottage!

Frame of mind - that's the key! Plus you stay active - learning new things and your job. I just turned 60 and I doubt I could keep pace with you:) You look like you have a Scandinavian background . . .

I've never researched my ancestors but one of my mother's sisters did and found English heritage on my maternal side. I'm also southern from a long line of strong, independent women. I've seen photos of them chopping wood.

I don't quite understand....what is the purpose of an aspirin facial? I have never heard of it. I know it is an anti-inflammatory, but what type of skin will this help..and what is it supposed to do? Many thanks..

Lori...I found this description for you:
Aspirin tablets can be used for more than just curing headache symptoms. You can achieve clear and healthy-looking skin by regularly applying an aspirin facial mask. Aspirin tablets contain a crystalline compound derived from salicylic acid -- the primary ingredient found in many commercial facial masks and acne treatments. Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxyl acid, or BHA, which helps to cleanse pores, remove dead skin cells and heal blemishes. The complete process for making an aspirin facial mask can be completed in several minutes.

You are kidding me?! Had here I thought I was your long lost OLDER sister. You are AMAZING and also very blessed with your genetics. Your mom still had color in her hair in her 90s. It also helps that you have a positive outlook and a can do attitude.

I'm definitely going to try your yogurt aspirin mask and hope it will work it's magic on me like it has you :-) My genetics gives the gift of aging early but also the promise of (perhaps) a long old life.

I love these photos, most of us would not be caught dead exposing ourselves in this way.
