Kitchen with Dutch Door

I like the bifold shutter on the inside of this dutch door. The locks and latches don't look very secure to me so this home must be in a safe area. So is mine, but you can't be too careful, can you? There are a lot of things I like about this kitchen but I would need a window over the sink and I'm not wild about that tile over the cooking area and that mint green door would not work for me either. Don't you wish we could see more?

I came across your blog through That country place. I too, would love to see more of this kitchen! The dutch door is fabulous! I am enjoying being your newest follower! Hubby and I are beginning to take on a cottage renovation. Love for you to follow! Blessings~~~Roxie

Yes! I actually looked in your post to see if there was a link to see more ;). We are in the process of redoing our kitchen, and I love white cupboards. The lighting in this kitchen is so pretty.

Rosemary, the temptation to leave the dutch door open to enjoy the outdoors, at least the top part, would be great. But if the door width is wider than the width of the work/cook area that it backs up on, I can't imagine having to dodge around the door to walk back and forth to the sink/window area. (There may actually be a window over the sink that is hard to see in the picture.) To me, it's just not a practical location for a dutch door. :-)

It looks like there is a window over the sink but maybe open to a covered patio or something?

I love Dutch doors. But I can't imagine they would be very secure. Though saying that... I have aways known locks were meant to keep honest people honest. If someone really wants to get in there is no stopping them. I love the bi-fold shutter too.

I have noticed so many great kitchen pictures on your blog. I am thinking of remodeling my kitchen but wonder what you would think of a center island that is 8 feet wide and 5 to 6 feet deep? As a realtor. Would a n island that large (in a very large room) be a deal breaker. No upper cabinets.

I'm with you, I like some of the details of this kitchen but don't like others. Dutch doors are a favorite.

I love this kitchen, especially the dutch door and the green door. There is definitely a window over the sink. You are seeing the side of a cabinet but if you look above that (by the light fixture) you can see the window. Also, you can tell by the sunny light coming in. Love the kitchen in it's entirety!

I had the same reactions to the door that you did. Love it. Noticed the locks. Thought, I'd love to live in a place where you didn't need to worry about it. Fun to see different kinds of doors!
