Cottage Makeover - Before and After

A cape cod in the deep south was renovated and completely transformed by a couple with New England roots without adding on.

Keep your eye on the porch off the kitchen in this before photo.

It's hard to believe the after photo, isn't it? The old porch became a butler's pantry to extend the kitchen.

The house had good bones as you can see from this before photo.

A new roof, shutters on the dormers, new paint, and fabulous new landscaping really transformed the exterior. See the floor plan and a total of 16 photos if you are still interested in seeing more HERE from Southern Living.

Silly, me. I prefer the old facade! It seems more in keeping with the dear home's date than the newer, tidier version. I must say, though, the adjustment to the kitchen corner in order to incorporate the little sink was so smart and the color palate my favorite. Don't you just love to snoop into other's homes . . . thank you for taking us there.

I've always loved this style house.
There are 2 identical around the corner in Summit. I love that porch/pantry!

My friend Linda loves the old exterior, silly me, I'm liking the change except for those shutters on the dormers.

I think the owoners, along with their designer/architect, did an amazing job on this renovation. It now is a wonderful retirement cottage and the kitchen is the crowning glory. I kept looking at the paint wondering what it was. Lo and behold it's BM Revere Pewter. LOL, that's the color I just painted my youngest son's study, no wonder I was loving it.

Yes Linda, I DO love to snoop into other's homes.

Wow, well done. I'm with one of your other readers on the front of the house...I prefer the white with the black shutters. But I love the interior work and the new landscape. So pretty.
