Webster, The Guardian

Webster loves to sit outside and guard the house. He doesn't need a leash because he knows he would never find a better home. He's very protective and he knows the boundaries. He doesn't like for other four legged animals such as the fox trespassing on HIS terrain. He will chase them to the edge but he won't go off the property. He is the best dog ever. He has misinterpreted the name of the lush flowers nearby. He thinks they are 'Pee-on-these' so he does. Ha.ha. Click photo to enlarge so you can see how lovely the peonies are since they have opened fully. It's raining softly now and many white petals are on the ground so they are on their way out. Boo Hoo.

Webster does sound like the "best dog ever"! Why would he leave such beautiful surroundings...a true guard dog in the best of ways!

... There is nothing better than a great dog .. and his take on the peonies is very funny ...

rain today, boo hoo is right .... I used to build a big tent over mine when rain threatened to end their season ... think it helped once but it was a big project just to save my beloved.

Stay dry today ....

Karen in CT....

You were right about rain being the arch enemy of blooming peonies. Yesterday WAS their last good day here at the cottage. You have the same weather in Connecticut so yours are probably a mess too. I'll see what I can salvage tomorrow in the sun. Your idea of a tent is a great one...maybe next year.
Try and stay dry too.

Under the Willow....

Yes, Webster is the best dog I've ever had. He's gentle and obedient and respectful. Every home needs a dog.

Maureen....You will never be sorry. Peonies are such rewarding plants to have in your garden. I love how they sort of evaporate in the fall too.
Webster send thanks for your kind remark about his good looks.

ha,ha,ha...pee-on-these. Your peonies are lovely. I like all 3 colors I see in this photo. Webster is a very smart dog knowing his boundaries. Our dogs are good that way too, but I worry about the streets they cross if they wander so we keep them in the yard unless we're on a walk, then it's on lead. Lucky you to have lush countryside surrounding your cottage.

Karen...

If I take Webster off the property I put him on a leash too. He has been soaked to the skin in this driving rain twice today so far. He's a real trooper.
Have a great weekend.
