Peony Bud

One of these days the tight pods on my peonies will open. I'm in no hurry though. I like the upright buds. When they bloom, they will droop. Besides, I'm not going outside again anytime soon in this heat. It's 90° right now and I can hardly believe I had the heat on two days ago. my Nikon photo

I guess the peonies of the world are on strike!

I love them in all stages. I think their leaves are beautiful too.

Peonies, something for you to look forward to. They are such regal blooms and have you noticed, they are always in those grandmaster still lifes.

I was thinking this morning ,asI worked outside cleaning my front and back porches, that there is something between the 60's and the 90's, how about a high 70 or low 80 temp with low humidity. I worked until I started feeling nauseous from the heat, still have two more days of cleaning and sealing on the screened porch.

I can only buy peonies at my Trader Joes...5 stems for $6.
Be sure to share the blossoms when they open.

.. I used to have some beautiful peonies ... the trick is to have varieties that bloom early/mid/late ... then the garden sees them for longer periods.

They are beautiful .. and can be swept away with even a quiet rain ... which always makes me so sad.

Good luck, they show great promise.
