Budget DIY Sliding Barn Doors

Do you love inside sliding barn doors but hate the cost of the hardware? This clever young lady in North Carolina substituted plumbing pipes overhead and put rolling casters on the bottoms of this pair of recycled doors. Total cost including the doors was $78.00. Genius. I use plumbing pipe to hang curtains.

Cheaper than the packaged rods.

Thanks for posting these barn doors.

Will be using the idea!

Tara...

I like your idea too. Decorator curtain rods are very expensive.

Rosemary,
What a great idea and they look wonderful. I saw the same hanging sliding barn doors done with vintage french doors, I imagine those are more than this one cost.

My question is.... are they pretty stable or do they swing.... I have a toddler running around and wanted to know if they stay in place if he is on outside of door trying to push way in??

Nadia...I have no idea since I wasn't the one who made these doors. The bottom wheels don't swivel and I don't see a bottom track. Maybe they aren't for families with young children.
