The hand-carved surround with acanthus leaves and beading is an absolutely beautiful architectural element for this door knob, isn't it? The patina on the door is pretty wonderful too. via

There are acanthus leaves galore at Gunston Hall, Rosemary. Someday, you must come to see them.
The mellow ones in your posting are marvelous.

I would love a door and the hardware like this. The patina compels me to knock on the door and see what pretty things await inside.

I love everything about this architectural feature.

I adore acanthus - both carved and the plant :)
