Dogs In and On the Car

This is one of my iPhone photos converted to an etching. I love the way it looks. Do your dogs like to ride in the car? It's Webster's favorite thing to do. Sometimes I just open the tailgate and let him take naps in the back. That's his second favorite thing to do.

I love the etching. I want details..... Willie doesn't like the car so much unless the is to one of his favorite drive throughs that hands out puppy treats.

Bonnie....

I don't know the artist. I photographed a framed picture in a house and converted it to an etching for iPhone and iPad. It costs 99 cents (for a limited time) and I LOVE it.

Next to the words "walk" and "treat", Jack's favourite phrase is, "do you want to go for a drive?"

He knows that picking up the car keys doesn't always entail a doggie excursion, so he waits for the prompts.
Once told, he is eager and waiting by the door.

He has travelled with us in the car thousands of miles in his eleven years.
From regular visits to the city - a 500 mile round trip each time, to our family's move across country - 2,300 miles and many expeditions in between, he has been with us all the way.

He loves travelling and checking out all the smells at stops - reading the "wee-mails" from other dogs is a highlight :)

Even our last car purchase was made solely on the fact that it would have air-con in the centre console directed to the back for his comfort - in Summer, he loves to place his paws on the cool air vent as he doesn't like to stick his head out the window when on the move, probably a wise choice.

And holidays are always planned with Jack in mind, choosing pet friendly accommodation. He even has his own "suitcase" and gets VERY excited when it comes out :)

He really is a wonderful travelling companion and we love sharing the excitement with him. Even trips to the cafe is an adventure each time :)

oh sweet webster.
his favorite second thing made me laugh. my zeke wasn't too keen on the car. it surprised me. but then he was rescued from a busy parking lot at a huge shopping mall. no collar or tag and thin. so i think cars might have been a scary bad memory for him? but most dogs love it!
oddly enough i posted about him today... came over here and got to read about webster! how cool is that. two great minds..... lol.

Vicki....

Webster would be very jealous if he knew about Jack's suitcase and long-distance trips. Webster's key words are "Post Office". He comes running when he hears them.

Dogs. They're all alike. Mine would sit ramrod straight in the backseat like a queen being chauffeur-driven.

She loved every minute but didn't understand when I had to say, "Sorry, Miss. It's too hot." In fact, sometimes I'd plan my errands for the cool early morning just so she could go with me. "Wanna go?" Those were the magic words.

Gail...

Webster always looks very sad when he hears "It's too hot" because he knows he has to stay behind. I leave the radio on for him though.

Have a great Sunday.

Dear Rosemary and Webster, Josie and I have been tormented by the hot weather which has curtailed the car excisions which Josie adores as much as I love her company. Leaving her behind breaks my heart, too. But, today's oh so very much cooler weather brings hope that we soon will be going on all matter of car rides together not just the ones involving drive up window services (PO, Macs for my iced latte, the bank) so I don't need to leave her for a second in the car.
Happy change of seasons to our dear dogs and to us.

Be careful about leaving tailgate open. Don't know what kind of vehicle you have, but my first little Honda hatchback came with instructions not to drive with back open as exhaust fumes get sucked up and back into the car. The first time I drove with back open, I found that actually could happen. Would hate for Webster to breath fumes that might make him ill--and that includes yourself. :-)

JudyMac....

I only do this when the car is parked in the driveway!!!

Thanks for the warning. I know all about this exhaust problem from my years and years of doing antique shows.

Webster loves to go to the drive in window at the bank where he barks for his biscuits.
He is happy for the cooler weather in all respects.
