Boris the Cat

Meet Boris.

He is Piggy's cat.
I photographed him this afternoon. He has a new "Lion Cut". The gray fur you see on his chest in the top photo is very short. Some day soon I'll try to get his whole body. He looks really cute and he's huge. I'll find out the breed too.

Piggy has a kitty? What fun!

He looks like a Maine Coon. Lovely beasts, huge paws.

Oh wow. Big, beautiful, Boris! He's stunning.

I might be wrong, but I'm wondering if he is a Maine Coon aka American Longhair. Or, he may at least have some in him.

The Maine Coon cat is the only native North American long haired domestic cat. Their ancestors are from Maine and New England.

I've been told by a hairdresser of mine who has one that, "you don't own a Maine Coon, they own you!"

Can't wait to see more pics of big Boris :)

Yes, Piggy has a kitty.

Boris is a special cat that is hypoallergenic because one of his humans can't be around regular cats.

I'll find out -- I would have remembered Maine Coon -- he is not that breed.

Boris is a beautiful cat. He looks like my cat Rosie and also my previous cat Rufus. They are/were both part Maine Coon and Norwegian Forest Cat. Love those breeds. I think Boris is Norwegian Forest Cat. Looking forward to more pictures of Boris!!

Wow, Boris is a real beauty! I was going to say Maine Coon (like a few others), and I think Anonymous could be onto something with the suggestion of the Norwegian Forest Cat. On the other hand .... look at his forehead .... he has the lines/marking (what looks like an "M") of a lot of tabbies. I house sit with a cat (named Isabelle) that looks much like Boris. She prefers to stay outside, even in the most extreme weather (hot or cold), and is very shy. But she and I could become the best of buddies if I stayed with her long enough.

I have never noticed the M markings on Tabby Cats. I wonder if Tabitha has them.

Interesting factoid . . . to confirm a "true" tabby look for a distinct bull's-eye pattern on the side towards the back leg. I never knew cats were "true" tabbies vs tigers until my vet showed me on my own cat. Kinda cool.

Any chance of getting Boris & Piggy in the same pic? :)

From the picture you have under "Meet My Cat Tabitha," I would say she has the markings. The dark black lines start above each eye and "bottom point" of the M are right above her nose. Most all tabbies seem to have these same lines on their forehead.

JudyMac...

You are right. I can see the M markings on Tabitha pretty clearly in this post. Thanks:
