Today is Webster's Birthday -- He's 10 Years Old

If you calculate his age in people years (10x7) he is 70 years old today. This is a recent photo taken outside on one of those nice days when he was watching helping me work. I cooked him a huge sweet potato in the oven last night along with the ones we had for supper and that will be one of his special treats today. They are one of his favorite foods along with cornbread. I think I'll make a big iron skillet of that later today as well. It sort of breaks my heart to look back on older photos of him and see how he has aged. But he still acts like a pup and is very healthy and I can't complain -- especially since we are the same age this year [smile]. If only that were an April Fool joke :(

Give Webster a big sloppy kiss from me and my dogs, Laci and Dudley. It is great that he is healthy, and the long walks outside help. I have a friend in Macon, Georgia who has a chocolate lab who is 16 and still going strong! They walk 2-4 miles every afternoon (weather permitting) and they are both so fit! Hope he enjoys his dinner.

Happy Birthday, Webster! Both of you need to remember...it is just a number. I was interested to hear Webster's age. My own lab is a rescue...coming to me as an adult. Mine is quite gray and I've been thinking he would be 10-12. I, too, agree that it is hard to see them age. But hey, life is good...sweet potatoes, cornbread and walks. Sounds like a perfect birthday to me!

Wow, Rosemary ... I never would have guessed that you are (or soon will be) 10 in dog years. Both your spirit and photo had me thinking you were probably somewhere in your fifties (like me). You're a beautiful reminder that we can indeed get better and better with age.

You've no idea how much pleasure your blog, and the simple pleasures you find in the world around you, give to me. Thank you for sharing your life with us.

Happy Birthday, Webster! I agree with Rie... I would never have guessed that you are 10 in dog years. I too would have guessed you to be in your 50's. And, I too love your blog. You are always up beat and generous with sharing your life.

Thank you!

Happy Birthday, Webster!
I always enjoy hearing about Webster and seeing his photos - we had to leave our sweet lab behind with my cousin in Canada when we moved to Seoul last summer - can't wait to see him again when we go home this summer on leave!

Like the Rabbit in Alice in Wonderland, "I'm late, I'm late for a very important date". Happy Birthday big boy, you're looking might fine for 10/70.

Rosemary, I'm sure I'm closer to Webster's age than you are. Thanks so much for sharing this handsome fine fellow with all of us. I'm so happy that you have each other to spoil.
