Interesting Table Setting

I like these runners so much better than placemats or a tablecloth. The table protection is much better and the beauty of the wood still shows. Nice.

Are those flour sack towels or some other kind of kitchen towel? Or, do you think the person made the little runners? Either way I love the simplicity, uncluttered look of the table.
