19th Century Gardening Clothes

Dressed and ready to garden by George Dunlop Leslie. English, (1835-1921). There doesn't seem to be much for her to do except for a little watering. Don't you love the walled garden with the little brick building?

Oh dear---I wouldn't get much done wearing that! I much prefer my grubby t-shirt and jeans. She looks nice, I suppose, but not the most practical of outfits!

Rosemary,
LOL! My dress, if that is what I did my gardening in, would be totally dirty and tattered. Maybe their tasks only involved watering and cutting flowers.
