Perfect Outdoor Room with Fireplace

This would be my pick for the perfect outdoor room to be used virtually any time of the year. Post and Beam Shelter designed by Bosworth Hoedemaker Architects via Pinterest. Who doesn't love a big rugged picnic table? I spent my childhood sitting on these at family reunions and church picnics with no store-bought food anywhere in sight.

...do i remember that you grew up in the south...we southerners never use the words ..."church picnics" and "store bought food" in the same sentence...

That is perfect for chilly or rainy days! You can still enjoy being out of doors with a fire going to keep you warm and a roof above to keep you dry. I love picnic tables, when I see them at state parksites I have to smile because they bring back such wonderful memories for me as well! Of course picnic tables always seem to be loaded with good food too! We are having a chilly spring here in Michigan so something like this would be just wonderful! Thank you for sharing!! Teri

Hi Rosemary! I love your blog and have been reading it for over a year--this photo inspired me to comment! I have lived in Baltimore for many years, but I grew up in Madison (actually, just a few houses down the street from the one that you featured as "Charming Low Maintenance Home" in a previous post). My childhood church picnics and birthday parties involved sitting at rugged picnic tables like this, in a structure very much like this one, at Loantaka Park (a.k.a. "The Duck Pond"). Have you been there? This photo makes me feel as if I am back there! Last spring, I brought my 8-year-old daughter to Madison, and we bought Sloppy Joes (the N.J. kind) and took them to the structure at Loantaka and ate them (while I reminisced)! Thank you for the trip down memory lane!
