Tiny television at the cottage . . .

I blog about tv shows all the time and people are always surprised to see this tiny 13" set in my living room. The only HD flatscreen is in my bedroom and it isn't much bigger, measuring a whopping 17". The reception is great on my older sets; the one in my studio is also a 13-incher. Most of the time when I watch tv I'm doing something else too like reading a magazine or working on the computer. I'm watching 'Sunday Morning' on CBS as I write this late-morning post. I don't feel the need for a giant screen or a media room either. Do you? I also like using my living room as an all-purpose room. (PS...you don't even see my tv until you leave the room. My house has a center chimney, so the first thing you see when you enter the LR is the back wall with a matching loveseat where I was sitting to snap the photo. This part of my cottage is one-room wide so you can see the front yard and the back too. This photo only shows the front-facing part.)
I slept my extra hour this morning. I just couldn't make my head leave the pillow. It's unusually warm and I had a few windows open all night. Very strange for November 1st but I hope it lasts until all the leaves are dealt with next week. The trees are virtually bare.
Thanks for stopping by for another peek into the cottage. ♥Rosemary

I just don't get media rooms. Do people really watch that much TV? I mean, I watch a little, but only because it gives me something to listen to while I read or knit or hem something or make the grocery list or...... I like to watch movies much better...on a weekend....with the fireplace roaring....and snow outside my window.

You would think something that small and unobtrusive would just blend into the background of your living room but that little tv sticks out like a sore thumb. Can you tell I'm not enamored with television either? ;-) I say that then have to admit to planning dinner around the airing of "Lark Rise to Candleford".

Wasn't that extra hour of sleep delicious? By the way, you've earned that precious hour.

I always am doing something else too while I watch tv.

I adore your charming home! I would love a virtual tour where you showed each section and explained all the goodies. I'm sure there are lots of stories.

Glad you were able enjoy the extra hour of sleep - me too!

I watch the news, old movies occasionally and Masterpiece Theater and that's pretty much it for my viewing. In my opinion there isn't a whole lot of stuff on the tube that's worth my time, I'd rather read a book. Our TV is in a cupboard so that I can shut the doors and it goes away.

Loved the picture of your home, would love to know more about the trophies on your mantel.

Definitely no media room at our house. In our kitchen, over the wall ovens, is a large boxed-in space. The contractor pictured a large, flat-screened TV there. What we HAVE is a 13-inch portable that looks dark and ridiculous in that big white lighted space. It comes in handy for watching the news when I'm cooking, but most of the time it's simply an eyesore.
Someone told me that burglars look in windows to check for fancy TV's. We should feel very safe.

I blog while I watch t.v.
I write posts and catch up on other people's blogs.....like right now, I am watching the World Series with one eye, and typing a comment to you with the other!
I can multi task!

We also have a smallish TV and always joke we have never even bought one--someone has always given us one(when they upgrade to a bigger and better one). But...we are going to get one of those flat screen TV's--maybe even a 35 inch one(although it seems too big!!) as a gift for Xmas this year so we can finally watch rented movies on a bigger screen.
But, I am with you on having a smaller TV--it seems wierd that the focus so often in a room is the giant TV screen, whereas in your home, at least the focus is right on the beautiful fireplace as it should be. :-)

There is nothing more disappointing than seeing a beautiful home with a flat screen above the fireplace :(
