Life's little Instruction Book, pages 118 + 119 + cottage photos . . .

Happy Friday. I woke up to rain this morning. Thankfully I mowed on Wednesday and Thursday for at least 4 hours each day...maybe more. I can't tell you how good it is to be "back in the saddle again" after being without my riding mower for way too long. The grass was so long in my middle field that I had to put the blade up as high as it would go. I don't keep the whole property clipped way down since I enjoy seeing what will come up in the way of wildflowers and weeds. Today is the last day of July I am already starting to think about the leaf season. I want to get everything ready for fall. I hope I can pace myself to do just a little every day instead of killing myself the way I usually do.

The cleomes have gone wild and are coming up everywhere spilling over into the driveway. I didn't plant a single one...they are all volunteers from a patch I planted 5 years ago. They reseed like wildfire...looking very much like exploding fireworks when they are in full bloom.

Thanks for stopping by the cottage for a visit. Have a great weekend. ♥Rosemary

Your rain photos look like a Monet painting-how lovely.
I love Cleome and have started them this year in hopes they spread. Your patch looks so pretty.
And I wish manufacturers would pay attention to #399!
Have a great weekend Rosemary!

Oh, I am so envious....here in water-rationing California the grass is dry and brittle. Very scary. We have to pace ourselves to make the water last until October when we see our first winter rains.

While you're indoors watching that wonderful rain, you might want to view the lovely work of Maira Kalman at the NY Times (Benjamin Franklin).

Ear rubs for Mr. Webster.

Beautiful photos, Rosemary. I sure wish it would rain here... 90 degrees and humid for a number of days now. I'd rather everything was completely wet than just so sticky!
Completely agree with all your instructions today... especially the one about kittens!

Have to say that I am as delighted as usual when receiving your blog. You have such a gift of capturing beauty through the lense of a camera, and you are so generous to share with us here.
Similarly I enjoy your tweets. It simply reinforces what I already sense about you through your missives.
Was at a Garden party the other night (here in a very rainy Maine) and promised to direct her (the hostess) to your blog as I knew she would find as much delight in it as do I.
Thank you for sharing yourself and your world this way.
Ruth

Please send us your rain here in MN. We are dry...another week and poor farmers...we have some coming tonight but not enough. Strange weather everywhere it seems.

Love the rain through the windows. Makes me want to grab a book and a hot chocolate! Loverly. Hi Webs!

Gail from Northern California echoed my sentiments in her remarks so I'll just say, "Ditto" from Southern California!

We're so parched here and only permitted to water our outdoor plants, etc. three days a week. Ugh.

Just looking at your moisture-rich photos is so refreshing that I can almost feel the droplets coming down on me - reminds me of Southwestern Pennsylvania where I grew up.
